For those interested in the study of Latin America, there are a number of additional resources available online that may be of interest.

  • LANIC (Latin American Network Information Center)
    LANIC's mission is to facilitate access to Internet-based information to, from, or on Latin America. Based at the University of Texas at Austin, LANIC’s editorially reviewed directories contain over 12,000 unique URLs, one of the largest guides for Latin American content on the Internet.
  • LAPTOC (Latin American Periodicals Tables of Contents)
    LAPTOC is a searchable web database that provides access to the tables of contents of more than 800 journals, primarily in the humanities and social sciences, published in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is possible to search LAPTOC, as well as to browse journals by country. LAPTOC is part of the Latin Americanist Research Resources Project.
  • Latindex
    Latindex is a cooperative program based at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México that provides bibliographic citations for journals in the arts & humanities, the social sciences, and the sciences dealing with Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal.
  • Chicano Database
     The Chicano Database is a comprehensive bibliographic index for information about Mexican-American topics. It indexes journal articles, newspapers, books and book chapters about Chicanos and also covers the broader Latino experience of Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, and Central American immigrants (1992 to the present). Produced by the University of California, Berkeley, your library may subscribe to the Chicano Database through Research Library Group’s (RLG) Eureka.
  • Handbook of Latin American Studies Online
    The Handbook is a bibliography on Latin America consisting of works selected and annotated by scholars. Edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress, the multidisciplinary Handbook alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities. Each year, more than 130 academics from around the world choose over 5,000 works for inclusion in the Handbook.
  • Current Contents Service
    The German Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut provides scanned copies of the table of contents of more than 1500 journals on Latin American topics, dating from 2000 to the present. The database is searchable in English, Spanish, and German.
  • European Portal on Latin America
    A collaborative project between REDIAL (Red Europea de Información y Documentación sobre América Latina) and CEISAL (Consejo Europeo de Investigaciones Sociales de América Latina), the European Portal provides citation information (with some abstracts and/or links to full text) for articles about Latin America in European journals. It is possible to search the database by keyword as well as browse by country of publication or journal title. The site also offers information about Latin Americanist scholars, programs, virtual libraries, news etc.
